MEET REV. DR.
RENITA J. WEEMS
Chief Academic Officer & Dean
Dr. Weems is a trusted voice in the church and academy, a nationally recognized womanist biblical scholar, and the first African-American woman to earn a Ph.D. in Old Testament from Princeton Theological Seminary. She has taught at Spelman College, Howard University, and Vanderbilt University Divinity School. Her leadership at Gammon represents tradition and transformation, nurturing future theologians through academic excellence and spiritual formation.

MEET DR. KYLAN PEW
Director of Student Affairs & Interim Director of Recruitment & Enrollment Management
As a way-making mentor, vocational discernment facilitator, educator, and community builder, Dr. Kylan C. Pew serves as Director of Student Affairs and Interim Director of Recruitment & Enrollment Management at Gammon Theological Seminary, where his work bridges formation, belonging, and purpose.
Grounded in pastoral care and prophetic imagination, he creates spaces for students to discern their call, connect in community, and grow as holistic leaders.

MEET DR. BARANDA FERMIN
Director of Online Learning & Institutional Effectiveness
Dr. Fermin is a strategic innovator, healer, and advocate with 25+ years of leadership experience across education, nonprofits, and social impact ecosystems. With advanced degrees from Michigan State, Columbia, and Iliff, they bridge the academic and practical with a commitment to sacred space, spiritual formation, and systems transformation. A published author and embodiment practitioner, they are leading the charge in making theological education accessible and liberating.

MEET DR. CANDACE M. LAUGHINGHOUSE
Faculty & Student Advisement
Scholar, activist, theologian, and musician Dr. Laughinghouse brings a prophetic and interdisciplinary lens to theological education, engaging theology, race, environment, and worship. Her current work deconstructs Christian Nationalism in Black Gospel music and examines memory, liturgy, and liberation. As a mentor, advisor, and minister, she embodies a deeply womanist ethic of care and critical engagement.
“My classroom is a sacred space for decolonizing, dreaming, and disciplining.”
