Where Calling Becomes Community

Grow Week 2026

March 3–6 | Gammon MDiv Intensive

From March 3 to 6, 2026, Gammon Theological Seminary invites students, faculty, staff, and alumni to campus for Grow Week, an MDiv Intensive designed to foster growth in scholarship, spiritual life, and community. Grow Week integrates worship, study, justice work, and fellowship to develop leaders committed to positive change.

What to Expect

Each day begins with a continental breakfast, followed by a morning devotional to prepare students spiritually for classes.

Tuesday, March 3

8:30 am – 11:30 am
Christian Ethics with Dr. Candace Laughinghouse

Students will examine moral imagination and theological responsibility in today’s complex world.

2:00 pm – 5:00 pm
Call, Community, and Vocation with Dr. Danielle Buhuro

This course guides students in discerning their calling and understanding the vital role of ministry within the community.

Throughout the day, students will participate in chapel, engage in justice-focused activities such as Faith in Action: Justice as a Way of Life, and in the evening attend the inaugural Bishop Leontyne T.C. Kelly and Dr. Angella Current Felder Lectureship with Dr. Stacey Floyd-Thomas, titled A Sacred Inheritance: Wisdom, Witness, and Womanist Thought.

Wednesday, March 4

8:30 am – 11:30 am
Womanist Theology with Dr. Candace Laughinghouse

2:00 pm – 5:00 pm
Introduction to the New Testament with Dr. Monica Rey

This day integrates biblical study with womanist perspectives, equipping students to interpret Scripture with care, justice, and understanding.

Thursday, March 5

8:30 am – 11:30 am
Women in the World Religions with Dr. Monica Rey

2:00 pm – 4:30 pm
Jerusalem: Three Faiths with Dr. Ward
Frameworks of Violence, Abuse, Trauma, and Power for Pastoral Care with Dr. Danielle Buhuro

Students will explore diverse faith traditions and develop essential pastoral care skills for contemporary ministry.

The day concludes with a Donor Reception and Student Town Hall Meeting, emphasizing the link between community support and student development.

Friday, March 6

8:30 am – 11:30 am
United Methodist History with Dr. Anthony Hunt

Grow Week concludes by connecting students with the history and future of the United Methodist Church.

A Holistic Experience

Chapel services, alumnae lunches, student gatherings, justice talks, and shared meals ensure Grow Week supports students holistically. Faculty and staff design each element to strengthen students academically and refresh them spiritually.

Grow Week embodies growth in action, purposeful learning, and a community grounded in calling.​​​
