As the only Historically Black Theological Institution (HBTI) of the United Methodist Church, Gammon stands at the crossroads of history, innovation, and ministry.

Located in the heart of Atlanta, GA, Gammon was founded on the belief that all people—should be equipped for leadership in ministry. That prophetic vision continues today as we embrace all aspects of our education and student life.

A Message from Our President

Dear Future Gammonite,

Thank you for considering Gammon Theological Seminary—the “School of the Prophets”— where we have shaped faith-driven leaders since 1883.

Our founder, Reverend Elijah Gammon, envisioned a seminary that would unite clergy from diverse races and backgrounds in preparation for leadership, and we carry that prophetic vision forward today.

As the first woman to serve as President of Gammon Theological Seminary, I am honored to lead this institution at such a pivotal time in our history. At Gammon, renewing our minds and not conforming to the world’s prescribed social orders is possible. We stand on the shoulders of a rich prophetic legacy, and we invite you to join us as we continue to refine and embrace that calling for today and tomorrow.

Here at Gammon, we equip transformational leaders who are unafraid to speak truth to power, serve the voiceless, and stand with the most vulnerable. Suppose you feel called to theological study or ministry. In that case, I invite you to explore becoming part of our community and making disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.

In His Power,

Dr. Candace M. Lewis

President/Dean
