Gammon Theological Seminary – Degree Program

 

Gammon Theological Seminary is the only Historically Black Theological Institution (HBTI) of the United Methodist Church. We help prepare for the practice of Christian ministry and public leadership individuals who understand their vocation as working in partnership with God in forming a just and generative world for all.​

MASTER OF DIVINITY DEGREE (MDIV)

Earning a Master of Divinity (MDiv) degree from Gammon Theological Seminary (GTS) means you’ve gained a deep understanding across various theological fields. It prepares you to fulfill a wide range of ministerial roles, equipping you with both intellectual and practical skills essential for religious leadership in various ministry contexts, both within and beyond church communities.

DEGREE REQUIREMENTS

Each candidate in the Master of Divinity, M.Div. program is required to complete 72 credit hours. Students intending to seek ordination in the United Methodist church must complete 24 of those 72 credit hours from Religious Heritage courses offered at GTS and outlined in The Book of Discipline of the United Methodist Church (2016). GTS students enrolled full-time and successfully completing 12 credit hours per semester can expect to complete the M.Div. program in 3 years.
