Celebrating the First Recipients of the Rev. Geraldine McClellan Endowed Scholarship

Congratulations to Thomas Kyles and Sasha Ellis, Gammon seminarians from The Florida Conference of The United Methodist Church, on being awarded the first scholarships from the Rev. Geraldine McClellan Endowed Scholarship Fund.
These inaugural $5,000 scholarships represent an investment in calling, leadership, and the future of the Church. Established in 2022 through the vision of Bishop Ken Carter and fully funded in 2024 by Bishop Tom Berlin, the endowed scholarship continues the legacy of generosity, creating meaningful opportunities for students pursuing theological education.
“Scholarships do more than ease financial burdens. They affirm a student’s calling and create pathways for leaders to answer God’s invitation with confidence and purpose,” shared Dr. Candace M. Lewis, President and CEO of Gammon Theological Seminary. “We are grateful to all who have invested in this fund and the future of these emerging leaders.”
We also celebrate the spirit of community that made this moment possible, including the generosity that helped elevate the awards to full $5,000 scholarships for both students.
At Gammon, scholarship support transforms lives. It enables students to focus more deeply on formation, ministry, and the work they are called to do in the world.
Congratulations again to Thomas Kyles and Sasha Ellis.
