DR. CANDACE LAUGHINGHOUSE JOINS GAMMON FACULTY

October 15, 2025

President Dr. Candace M. Lewis has announced that Dr. Candace Laughinghouse has joined the Gammon faculty as Assistant Professor of Theology and Ethics. She began teaching in Fall 2024.

Dr. Laughinghouse is an interdisciplinary scholar whose work draws on theology, ethics, cultural anthropology, and womanist critique. Initially considering a legal career, she was led to theological study by a firm ethical conviction and a desire to challenge dominant frameworks shaped by injustice and exclusion.

Her current research interests include eco-womanist theology, animal ethics, indigenous cosmology, interfaith influence, and gender studies. She is also exploring how theology can be more inclusive of neurodivergent individuals and those living with memory loss.

Beyond the classroom, Dr. Laughinghouse is a seasoned Director of Music and Worship Arts. Through her consulting venture Sacred Synergy, she helps ministries craft worship experiences rooted in justice, inclusion, and Gospel authenticity.

As the first full-time faculty hire under Gammon 3.0, she plays a pivotal role in shaping the next chapter of Gammon’s legacy of theological innovation, liberation, and leadership.

When asked, “How do you hope to collaborate with colleagues or students here?” Dr. Laughinghouse exclaimed, “I am enthusiastic about collaborating with our distinguished faculty, who are driven by the creative genius of our team at Gammon.”
